Chris Lighty:Dark Side of Hip-Hop

The untimely, alleged, suicide of hip-hop power manager and philanthropist Chris Lighty has cast a spotlight on the culture's negative aspects. Much like the movie world, the hip hop world is riddled with as many evil doers as dream fulfillers. I have here an excerpt from the last blog post Mr. Lighty posted on his website WWW.violator.com in 2010.
"I HAVE BEEN ON THE RUN BUSY TRYING TO STAY AHEAD OF THE RAT RACE WE CALL HIP HOP. ALOT OF GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENNING AND AS USUAL ALOT TERRIBLE THINGS ARE HAPPENNING. I AM SURE YOU GUYS HAVE HEARD ALL OF THE RUMORS AND RIDICULOUS STORIES. I AM SORRY I HAD TO COME BACK TO THE BLOG WITH THIS BULLSHIT BUT HERE WE ARE. NO I DIDN’T GET ATTACKED. NO I DIDN’T SEE MY BROTHER GET ANY STITCHES LET ALONE 103. YES I AM TIRED OF ALL OF THIS BULLSHIT AND IN PARTICULAR PROPOGANDA OF THE NEGATIVE SORT. I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE MY CLIENT 50 CENT ISN’T INVOLVED. I AM SURE THAT WE WILL INVESTIGATE AND GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS MATTER. I AM SURE THE PRESS WILL CONTINUE TO PROP UP THE BULLSHIT BUT I CANNOT STRESS HOW WE DON’T CONDONE ANY VIOLENCE IN THE NATURE THAT HAS BEEN DESCRIBED. I WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT MY CLIENTS. IF YOU DON’Y KNOW WHO THEY ARE CHECK OUT WWW.VIOLATOR.COM I HAD A FRIEND CALL ME AND SAY THEY ARE TRYING TO DRAG ME BACK INTO THE DARK SIDE OF HIP HOP AGAIN. I SAID I WON’T LET IT HAPPEN. YOU HAVE SEEN OUR PRESS STATEMENTS, YOU HAVE SEEN THE BEEFS, YOU HAVE SEEN THE SENSELESS LOSSES THAT WE HAVE HAD IN HIP HOP. I WILL NOT CONDONE ANY VIOLENCE. I AM A BUSINESS MAN IN THE BUSINESS OF BRANDING MY MUSIC AND EXPANDING HIP HOP. THE CHAOS AND MAYHEM WILL DESTROY HIP HOP. WE HAVE A FORCE OF PEOPLE IN HIGH POSITIONS LOOKING TO BRING HIP HOP DOWN. I AM TRYING TO KEEP IT ALIVE. MAKE A DECISION PEOPLE TO DISCERN WHAT IS ENTERTAINMENT , WHAT IS REALITY AND WHAT IS FICTION. WE HAVE TO LIVE AND ABIDE BY RULES NOT THE CHAOS AND MAYHEM HIP HOP IS IN RIGHT NOW. STOP HATING ON THE NEXT MAN. I WILL BE BACK BUT HOPEFULLY ON A BETTER NOTE AS THIS ISN’T WORTH THE ENERGY OR ATTENTION I JUST GAVE IT LET ALONE ALL OF THE PRESS. LETS STOP CONTRIBUTING TO THE CHAOS AND MAYHEM. THIS ISN’T ROME WE DON’T NEED TO SEE BLOOD. WE HAVE THE WWF FOR THAT. THIS ISN’T HIP HOP."
I think it seems quite peculiar that, even tho it was two years ago, this was the last thing he posted on the site. Makes u want to speculate on a conspiracy theory.

Do you have any suggestions for the site? If so tell me in the comments after ya spill ya guts.

Lil Scrappy Gets Deep with new single, talks bipolarity, and relationships [Listen+D/L]

With this summers Atlanta  installment of hit docu-drama reality series "Love & Hip-Hop" we've seen the reinvigoration of interest in two of Atlanta's biggest artists of the crunk music era FemCEE Rasheeda, and the prince of crunk himself Lil Scrappy. Both artist have, wisely begun to use the exposure to spread word of their new music. Now don't get me wrong scrappy still brings us a good hit every now and then, may I remind you of "That's Her" ft. HOT 107.9 ATL personality/rapper J-Knick/Stuey Rock. But we weren't seeing him like in the Trillville days. With this new opportunity scrappy has decided to go the personal route on his new record entitled "Bipolar" ft. R&b crooner Chinkie Brown. In the song he reveals that he really is suffering from the mental disorder. He has stated that one of the records main reason for existence was to in a way explain some of his actions on the show. He and his collaborator thought it would be a good idea since most scrappy fans had never seen the fellow in such a light and would more than likely have no base info to draw an opinion of scrappy from his actions.

The reunion episode of "Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta" premiers tonight so lets see if this new knowledge might change his we view him

If ya like come on back to Tha porch and leave a comment about tonights episode after you watch.

Busta Rhymes defends Lil Wayne against NYC Backlash

Last week the net went crazy over Lil Wayne's "I Don't Like New York" Statement in an MTV interview. A lot of New Yorkers took it personaly, including the states Senator<\a>. Well now New York's own Busts Rhymes has come to Wayne's defense stating "I completely understand his statement". After explaining that he has the same feelings for El Paso,TX., he also explained how even if he didn't understand his statement that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  Which is true. I'd like to add that I completely agree with Buss in all honesty. Being from the "A" would I be happy camper if Tunchi said he ain't like Atlanta, NO! But if the Guy got harassed in mechanicsville, arrested in bankhead, had to spend a year in Gwinett/Douglas/Carroll Co. Jail, folks in the red clay state would understand why he would say "I don't like Atlanta". Yes Busta is on Cash Money, and Weezy is his boss but we can't let that blur the lines of plain old common sense. Let me as you this reader, do you think Wayne should've held his opinion even if he had what the Hood would define as a just cause for such an opinion? Or was he right in speaking his mind? Spill ya guts in the comment.

Lil Wayne - No Lie(freestyle)- Dedication 4 & Why D4 is Delayed[stream+dl+story]

Dewayne Carter Jr. is no stranger to pushing back project release dates. So when the highly anticipated, Dj Drama hosted, mixtape "Dedication 4" failed to be released on it's expected schedule a few days ago It wasn't a big shocker to his fans. His explanation, he didn't want to interfere with the concurrent release of, friend and hip-hop colleague, Titty "2 Chainz" Boi's debut solo LP "Based on a T.R.U. Story". He also noted that he wasn't entirely finished with the tape. You know all the skateboarding & sh!t gets in the way. I feel like Lil Wayne was that guy in college who always turned in his papers late but didn't care about the point deduction because he has the best work in the class. Anyway, in ode to his homies album, weezy did give something to hold us over the freestyle to 2 chainz first gold single "No Lie" Check it out below:
